Did Paris profit from pirated pics?
A picture is worth a thousand words – and possibly several thousand dollars. Nicole Richie and Joel Madden held their baby shower at the Beverly Hills Hotel last Sunday, with exclusive coverage granted to InStyle mag. But early last week, pirated pics of the Wizard-of-Oz-themed party were being offered by a source to competing magazines. And one pal suspects Paris Hilton might have had something to do with it. “All the photos that were offered had Paris right in the center of them, as the star,” says the insider. “They look set up.” The pics, priced at around $3,000 to $4,000, did not sell since the celebrity tabloids closed early last week due to Thanksgiving. “None of the money would have been for Paris – for her it’s about the attention,” said the spy. Hilton’s rep said, “Paris was a hostess of the shower, which a large number of people attended. Many of these guests were taking photos with camera phones…there is no way she had anything to do with this.”
Nicole and Joel’s good deed
Nicole Richie is using her Wizard of Oz-themed baby shower to benefit charity. Richie and boyfriend Joel Madden will donate baby gifts to 100 expectant families in need through the newly-formed Richie Madden Foundation via the LA Free Clinic. “It’s really sweet,” says shower guest Rashida Jones of The Office. “With all the swag these days, we’re given so much stuff it’s almost wasteful, and it’s kind of nice when we’re giving to each other to give to someone else.” While many friends at Sunday’s shower in Beverly Hills donated gifts to the charity, they also brought gifts for Nicole and Joel to keep – including one children’s book from every guest to help build the baby’s library.
Friends and family throw baby shower for Nicole
Nicole Richie marked another milestone on Sunday on her path to motherhood: her baby shower. About 90 people attended the Beverly Hills shower, organized by celebrity party planner Mindy Weiss, hosted by Richie’s mother Brenda, and thrown by her sister Sophia and friends Paris Hilton and Masha Gordon. And while Richie has not revealed whether she’s having a boy or a girl, some of the gifts offered a clue. From NoMi boutique in LA, guests picked up a pair of $50 baby sneakers for a boy and a $50 Tummy T Jack maternity shirt with a picture of a boy on the front. Invitations were hand-delivered to the Wizard-of-Oz themed event last Thursday. Richie and Joel Madden are due in January.
Nicole and Joel’s new charity
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are planning a baby shower at a private home this Sunday. Instead of guests bringing them gifts, however, the soon-to-be mom and Madden are asking pals to give cribs, strollers and stuffed animals to the new Richie Madden Children’s Foundation, which supports mothers in need. Next month, their charity will also donate 100 Mom-to-Be kits to the LA Free Clinic.
Rumored Richie/Madden wedding a hoax
Despite reports that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are getting married October 13, a source confirms that the couple is not planning on tying the knot until after their child is born this winter. In fact, the Good Charlotte frontman is going to be on tour when the alleged wedding was reported to have been taking place. “It’s such a joke,” said a Madden source. “We were all laughing about it. The tour is still on and they have no marriage plans yet.” Indeed, wedding planner Lorraine Keseloff confirms that reports that she’s handling the Richie/Madden nuptials are totally inaccurate, and she’s never even met the parents-to-be.

Nicole signs up for alcohol ed.
A six-months-pregnant Nicole Richie has enrolled in a lengthy anti-drinking education program. Papers filed with the Superior Court of California show that Richie signed up for an 18-month anti-drinking driver course, known as the SB 38 Alcohol Program, on Wednesday. SB 38 is for people who have been convicted of DUI on more than one occasion within a 7-year period, the Santa Barbara Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse states on its website. The program consists of 52 hours of group counseling, bi-weekly face-to-face interviews and 12 hours of alcohol education, according to the council. Participants are also encouraged to attend 12-step meetings. Richie was arrested in the early hours of December 11, 2006, after California Highway Patrol officers were alerted to a black Mercedes SUV driving the wrong way on Highway 134. The pregnant starlet was sentenced to four days in jail, fined $2,048 – and forced to sign up for the driving rehab course because she was previously convincted of DUI in June 2003.

Nicole and Joel excited about parenthood
Joel Madden says marriage to Nicole Richie is all part of the master plan. “Obviously, marriage is in our future,” Madden told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show today. “I don’t know when or where or how, but right now our priority is our family and is the baby.” Madden added, “That’s all we’ve been thinking about. We are in love and are really happy.” The Good Charlotte singer is not shy about his enthusiasm for impending fatherhood: “I’m excited. We are all really excited about it,” he told Seacrest. “It’s the best thing that has ever happened to us. It’s awesome.” Madden revealed that the baby has already started kicking, and the couple is getting everything ready, including the nursery. “We’re started it,” he said. “I already went to Target and got a stroller and a playpen.” As for the sex? “No, we are waiting. We don’t even know. So right now it’s an it. Which sounds wrong. We call it the baby. When we talk about it, it’s a you,” Madden said.
