Madonna to debut film in Berlin

Madonna’s debut movie as a director will have its world premiere at the annual Berlin film festival in February. “Filth and Wisdom,” starring Eugene Hutz, Richard E. Grant and Stephen Graham, will screen in the Panorama section, outside the main competition, a festival statement said Thursday. Organizers didn’t specify whether the 49-year-old singer will come to Berlin to present the movie. The event, which runs from Feb. 7-17, is the first of the year’s major European film festivals.
Madonna files suit against building co-op

Madonna really is just like everyone else in New York - she wants more space, and now she’s suing for it. Madge filed suit yesterday in Manhattan Supreme Court, alleging that the co-op board at her ritzy Central Park West building isn’t letting her expand her current 6,000-square-foot duplex pad into her ex-neighbor’s place, which is in the midst of being sold. The summons accuses the co-op board of breach of contract for holding up that sale, and demands that her shares be transferred. Neither the board nor the ex-neighbor could be reached for comment.
Former NYC waitress dishes on celeb tipping
In a new book called Rules for Saying Goodbye, a former waitress uses real-life details about celebrities and their tipping habits - or lack of. She dishes she once received a 15% tip from Gwyneth Paltrow, describing her as “not stingy, only stupid. I thought she probably couldn’t calculate 15%,” but says David Byrne tops the list of lousy tippers because he “never tipped in any of the three bars where I worked in New York.” Though the book is fiction, the writer confirmed to her publisher that she previously worked as a West Village bartender and that all celebrity anecdotes in the book are true. “Rupert Everett, Parker Posey, Madonna, no tip. Tobey Maguire…Barbra Streisand, John Travolta’s wife. Almost no tips at all.” She also adds: “Paul McCartney was once too drunk to tip.”

Madonna developing online talent search site
Madonna is entering the cyber world with an online American Idol-type talent search. Maverick, the popstar’s production company, is teaming up with Madison Road Entertainment to develop Big Shot - a website where wannabe actors, magicians, singers, and entertainers can post video clips of themselves which will be voted on by the site’s visitors. Each weekly winner will be flown to Hollywood to audition for a talent scout.
M by Madonna hits stores

The M by Madonna collection went on sale today at H&M stores all over the world, causing mayhem at outlets of the Swedish fashion retailer. “I’m happy with the results and look forward to wearing M by Madonna along with the rest of the world,” the Material Girl said of her exclusive line, which includes a leather trench, sequined shift dresses and calf-length pants with matching cropped jackets. Madonna already has an A-list fan: pal Gwyneth Paltrow has reportedly order one of everything.
