Justin called Britney
Justin Timerlake admits he recently called ex-girlfriend Britney Spears to make sure she was okay. “I called her because I was worried about her,” the SexyBack singer said during a press junket for Shrek the Third. “She’s a great woman. I’m rooting for her. [It] seems like she’s getting everything under control now.” Timberlake, single since splitting with Cameron Diaz in January, reportedly spent time with rumored fling Jessica Biel at a barbecue he had in LA last week, and things between the two got “hot and heavy,” says a source close to the singer. As for Biel, an insider describes her as “crazy about [JT].”
JT still protective of Cameron
Justin Timberlake is still a gentleman when it comes to ex Cameron Diaz. “It’s hard for me to talk about because we’re talking about a person that I love and respect,” Timberlake told British GQ about his former girlfriend of nearly four years. “If I hear anyone say anything bad about Cameron then I’ll have something to say to them.” Of his other famous ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears, the SexyBack singer says, “Honestly, I am so far removed from that situation.” And his best buddy backs him up. “She just isn’t part of his life,” says Trace Ayala. And of rumors that he had sent a message to Spears while she was in rehab, Timberlake says he “didn’t know anything,” adding, “A coded message to Britney?” in disbelief.
JT hates the tabloids
Justin Timberlake made sure to tell Details mag what he thinks of paparazzi and gossip mags. “I despise what they do,” the popstar says in the mag’s April issue. “They create soap operas out of people’s lives… It’s a spin game, and I choose not to take part in it.” Not participating includes speaking publicly about famous exes Cameron Diaz and Britney Spears. “I would never say anything bad about anyone. I love a lot of those people.” Of his stellar solo career, the former *NSYNCer says, “I tried so hard to be an R&B artist, and it was the pop album of the year… That’s the last thing I wanted. But I was like, ‘So everyone considers me a pop artist? I’m going to do whatever I want to do.’”

JT and Timbaland to help Britney?
Uber-producer Timbaland wants to help Britney Spears get her career back. “I feel her pain, it really bothers me,” said Timbaland, who produced hit albums this year for Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. “I’m the type of person who tries to save the world. I just want to take her away, go overseas, and work [things] out… I asked Justin, ‘How would you feel about me working with Britney?’ I had to ask him that. I said, ‘Would you do it with me?’” JT, who dated Spears at the height of her career, agreed, according to Timbaland. A rep for the SexyBack singer referred all inquiries today to Timbaland’s spokesperson, who has not yet commented.
JT to open third restaurant
Justin Timberlake is adding a new restaurant to his list of projects. The SexyBack singer already owns two hot eateries – Chi in Hollywood and Destino in NYC – and has plans for a second Manhattan haunt. Timberlake and his partner will cut the ribbon on Southern Hospitality on Second Avenue this April, with a menu inspired by the Southern flavor of the popstar’s home state of Tennessee.
JT to host Kids’ Choice Awards
Justin Timberlake has been announced as the host of this year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. “I’m revving up to have an even bigger blast than usual,” Timberlake said of his new gig. “While honoring kids’ opinions, it taps into the kid in all of us.” Best picture nominees include Click, Night at the Museum, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Big Momma’s House 2. In the race for favorite male movie star Jack Black, Johnny Depp, Adam Sandler and Will Smith, and for fav female star the noms are Halle Berry, Dakota Fanning, Keira Knightley and Sarah Jessica Parker. The show will take place on March 31 in LA.

JT and Jessica: just friends (for now)
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are just having fun, according to a source close to Timberlake. Rumors of a romance between the two began earlier this month when Biel went backstage at the singer’s San Diego concert and continued to surface when the Illusionist star flew to Park City to snowboard and hang out. “It’s all about having fun,” a source told People mag. “He’s trying to have a good time… He is in no way looking to be in a relationship. He’s single and happy.” Biel is reported to be the source of a well-publicized spat between Timberlake and recent ex Cameron Diaz at Prince’s Golden Globes afterparty, where Biel told Timberlake’s mom, “He is sooo cute!” I can’t say I disagree.
