Jessica & Tony’s Wedding Day PDA
What’s going on with Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo? While rumors of a split continue to swirl, the two attended Ashlee Simpson’s private weekend nuptials – looking anything but broken up.
Simpson and her NFL-star beau were spotted together Friday on a sushi run in L.A., and later he was by her side again during Ashlee’s rehearsal dinner, held at Jessica’s Beverly Hills home.
“They were very cozy and cute together,” said a source close to the couple, slamming Internet reports that Simpson was devastated to learn that her ex, John Mayer, has taken up with Jennifer Aniston. Read more
Jessica fights for her man
Jessica Simpson is fighting mad over a recent OK! magazine article claiming she was dumped by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. TMZ.com first reported that Simpson’s lawyers had fired off a strongly-worded letter demanding a retraction for an article which claims Romo broke up with the singer because she was high-maintenance. The letter referred to the article as a “smear campaign.” Her lawyers insist: “Mr Romo and Ms Simpson have not broken off their romantic relationship.” A rep for Simpson confirms that the singer’s lawyer sent a letter to OK! but had no additional comment. A source close to Simpson says, “Jess and Tony did not break up. OK!’s story was full of lies.”

Jessica avoids run-in
It could have been awkward for Jessica Simpson and her new beau, Tony Romo, had they gone to Costa Rica with her sister, Ashlee, as they planned last weekend, rather than to Cabo San Lucas. Spies at the Four Seasons in Costa Rica said Ashlee was there with bo-hunk Pete Wentz – and staying next door at the exclusive resort was Jessica’s ex, Nick Lachey, with his girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo. Instead, Jessica flew to Mexico where she, Romo, several of his teammates, and her parents hung out at a private villa.
Jessica hard at work on country album
After her bad luck at the box office, Jessica Simpson is hoping to bounce back with a country music career. “I am a country girl,” she says in a new interview with Billboard.com. “I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to make a country album, but I wanted to wait until the time was right.” She also cites Martina McBride, Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Reba McEntire as inspirations, adding, “I think there is a strength in female country artists.” She won’t reveal her songwriting collaborators, but tells the website: “Writing is a release for me. It’s a way for me to tell my story. That’s not to say I wouldn’t record a song that I didn’t write. It’s just that it has been a while since I have opened the book.” Simpson is still not certain if she’ll hit the road to support the disc, which is due later this year. “Since the record is in the beginning stages, there hasn’t been much talk about a tour just yet,” she says.
Jessica avoids jinx
Jessica Simpson knows when she’s not wanted. The starlet was an apparent no-show at Saturday’s Dallas Cowboys game against the Carolina Panthers in Simpson’s native Texas – a week after fans criticized her presence as a distraction to her boyfriend and Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Romo, 27, had a great game this time, rebounding from his Dec. 16 performance, when Simpson, in a pink Cowboys jersey, watched from a luxury box. After the 20-13 win over the Panthers, Romo told reporters that Simpson, 27, was indeed watching the game – and even hinted that she may have been in attendance. “I know she saw all of that tonight,” Romo said after the game, when asked if Simpson had seen fans wearing masks of her face. “She was at the game tonight, so I don’t know.” He added, “I don’t talk about my personal life.” After Romo endured the worst game of his professional career last week, fans of opposing teams started the website RuinRomo.com, which offers a Simpson mask that visitors can download, print and wear to games in an effort to jinx the star quarterback. This week, Romo told the NFL Network that Simpson was bothered by the negative attention. “I don’t care how the perception is of me,” Romo said. “But it hurts me when it hurts people that are close to me… That’s part of being in the public eye.”
Jessica cheers new beau
Jessica Simpson was certainly as glamorous as any Dallas Cheerleader Sunday night, with her perfectly coiffed hair and miniature Tony Romo jersey emblazoned with a pink number 9. But she wasn’t exactly a good luck charm. Her new boyfriend struggled all game, throwing three interceptions and fumbling the ball twice as his heavily favored Cowboys lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 10-6. At one point, the network even showed a montage of Simpson, 27, spliced with shots of Romo’s bad throws. As commentator Joe Buck noted, “It’s never easy to play in front of your girlfriend.” That seems especially true for Romo. The 27-year-old Pro-Bowler ended the game with a quarterback rating of just 22.2 – that’s the worst ever in his entire career. (In comparison, his average rating this year is over 100.) His previous low? Last December, when then-girlfriend Carrie Underwood was in the stands. His latest performance is sure to anger some of the always-outspoken Dallas diehards. In fact, the backlash may have already begun. According to the Dallas Morning News, Romo was heckled outside the arena last night by a female fan who shouted, “Worry about the game, not your girlfriend!”
Jessica to hit the big screen after all
Jessica Simpson‘s film Blonde Ambition, costarring Luke Wilson, will be hitting theaters after all – with a limited run in Simpson’s home state of Texas, the movie’s studio confirms. “The film is being released theatrically on Dec. 21,” says Elizabeth Wolfe, a spokeswoman for both Nu Image/Millennium Films, the film’s production company, and First Look Distribution, which will distribute the romantic comedy. Aside from Simpson and Wilson, the cast also includes Andy Dick, Rachael Leigh Cook and Penelope Ann Miller. News of the film’s theatrical release comes following reports that the film was getting the direct-to-DVD treatment in late January, skipping theaters altogether. Says Wolfe: “It is being released in this crowded marketplace in eight theaters in Texas. The reason we chose Texas is the two stars are from Texas: Jessica Simpson and Luke Wilson. As an independent studio, we, as a rule, don’t have major wide releases. It’s a very common release practice for independent studios.” Wolfe adds that the studio isn’t ruling out a wider rollout. “Once it opens, we’ll assess how well it did.” As for Simpson’s performance, Wolfe says, “It is a very cute film that Jessica fans will love and be thrilled with. We’ve done a second film with Jessica, Major Movie Star [slated for 2008 release], and we have all the confidence in her.”
Jessica and Tony heat up
The Dallas Cowboys had the weekend off – but quarterback Tony Romo still made plenty of passes. Jessica Simpson and the NFL star flirted up a storm Saturday at Hollywood nightclub Teddy’s, as the two helped Simpson’s BFF, Cacee Cobb, celebrate her 30th birthday. At first, the singer – wearing a form-fitting black dress and spike heels – and her new beau kept things low-key in a secluded booth. But as the night wore on, the two were spotted with their arms around each other. Then, after a few seconds of conversation, they leaned in for a kiss – right in the middle of the crowded club. Also on hand for the bash were Cobb’s Scrubs-star boyfriend, Donald Faison, and Simpson’s mane man, Ken Paves. Last month, Simpson and Romo, both 27, shared Thanksgiving dinner in Dallas. The Cowboys star has previously dated Carrie Underwood, Britney Spears and Sophia Bush.
