Brad Pitt to Design Dubai Hotel
Soon-to-be father of six Brad Pitt is one busy daddy – as he’s been named designer of a green hotel and resort in Dubai.
“Whilst acting is my career, architecture is my passion,” Pitt, who is also building affordable, environmentally-friendly homes in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward, said in a statement.
The 44-year-old movie star will be part of a team of design consultants for the 800-room, five-star hotel spearheaded by L.A.-based architecture firm GRAFT. Read more
Idol Goes Big And Gives Back
Although Wednesday’s American Idol won’t be saying goodbye to another contestant, (the results will be shown Thursday night) they will be airing their Idol Gives Back show for the second year in a row. The fundraiser will be raising money for both U.S. and international charities and will feature big stars like Brad Pitt, Hollywood it-couple David and Victoria Beckham, Miley Cyrus, and former Idol winners Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks. I recommend having a box of kleenex handy as the show will also include heartfelt stories informing people firsthand on how this special will be making a difference in the lives of many.

Brangelina’s fast food Christmas
The Brangelina brood had a finger lickin’ good Christmas in New Orleans. Days before the holiday, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, were spotted strolling hand in hand as they shopped at Harry’s Corner and Santa’s Quarter in their French Quarter neighborhood. Later, Jolie took daughter Shiloh, 19 months, on a walk around town, letting her munch on Lay’s Chips and Cracker Jacks. The actress — who has admitted, “I’m not much of a cook” – proved that point when she and Pitt (in a white Nissan minivan) went through a McDonald’s drive-thru and picked up Happy Meals for their kids on Christmas Day. The day after Christmas, the family – sans Shiloh – hit the AMC Palace Theater to take in the family flick The Water Horse. And on the way home? They hit up another fast food restaurant: KFC.
Brad’s next project
Brad Pitt may be climbing into Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life, replacing Heath Ledger in the gestating drama. According to Variety, Pitt is in talks to join the River Road-financed project, which will also feature Sean Penn. Ledger had been attached to the lead role as recently as late October and the trade paper gives no indications as to what happened to the Brokeback Mountain star’s participation. Nobody knows much of anything about the Malick-scripted drama except that production would begin this spring. Ledger was circling a leading role originally earmarked for Colin Farrell. Penn’s role in the project would only be a supporting turn (no contracts have been signed), especially since he’ll be playing the title character in Gus Van Sant’s Harvey Milk. The trade paper says that although Pitt was expected to collect a $20 million against gross paycheck for State of Play, which he exited last month, he’d only receive a fraction of that for “Tree of Life.” Pitt has finished work on The Curious Incident of Benjamin Button and Burn After Reading, both set for release next year.
No politics in Brad’s future
There will be no “Senator” title in Brad Pitt’s future. Despite the Hollywood heartthrob’s dedication to Make It Right, a program Pitt launched to build 150 homes in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, worth $150,000 each, he told Newsweek he is quite happy to stay on the other side of politics. “Not a chance,” Pitt said. “[That’s] the same reason I won’t direct. I don’t think it’s my place. Besides, you can create acts of social disobedience from the outside.” When asked if he thought it was the government’s job to rebuild the houses his organization is focusing on, Pitt said he was glad Make It Right help to put the focus on the continuing troubles of New Orleans for the election season. “It certainly illuminated that a certain portion of society is not being looked after. I think it should be one of the major issues of the upcoming campaign,” he said. “This is a proving ground for so many issues: education, health reform, poverty level, unemployment [and] violence that comes from these conditions.” Despite Pitt’s well-documented love of architecture, the actor is sticking to helping out on aspects other than the design board for the project. “We didn’t want to stifle these minds in any way,” he said. “We put forth the criteria that the housing would have to be sustainable, affordable, safe and beautiful. This has been one of the age-old challenges in architecture: how do you find aesthetics with affordability?” In other Pitt news, the actor said his plans for the holidays are minimal – he’ll be spending it with his family. Just don’t expect any Jolie-Pitt caroling. “I wouldn’t say we have real singing talent in our family,” he said.
Happy bday Katie! (and Brad and Xtina)

Happy birthday to Brad Pitt, Katie Holmes and Christina Aguilera!
Pitt (born in Shawnee, Oklamoma, in 1963), Holmes (born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1978) and Aguilera (born in Staten Island, NY in 1980) all mark the passing of another year today.
Brangelina’s weekend outing
Fresh from his do-gooding mission in New Orleans, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie joined Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale at the WBC Welterweight title fight match as American Floyd Mayweather knocked Brit Ricky Hatton out in the 10th round Saturday. The cozy couples were later spotted getting into the same limo afterwards. No doubt the pairs swapped parenting tips. After all, Stefani delivered her son Kingston in May 2006 the day before Jolie gave birth to daughter Shiloh. The couples have also shared a playdate. Pitt has been a longtime pal of Stefani: He and Jennifer Aniston attended Stefani and Rossdale’s 2003 L.A. wedding ceremony.
