Ashlee Simpson Becomes Ashlee Wentz
Newly married Ashlee Simpson is changing her name to Ashlee Wentz in honor of her husband, Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz.
“I think that that’s something that a woman should do when they’re marrying a man,” she tells PEOPLE. “It’s a tradition that I think is a great tradition.”
The singer, whose May 17 wedding featured an Alice in Wonderland-themed reception, says that privately she’ll go by Ashlee Wentz and professionally she’ll be Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.
Pete Wentz says he left the name change decision to his wife. “These decisions with Ashlee and her name are all completely up to Ashlee,” Wentz says. “I want her to do these kinds of things the way she wants to do them.” Read more

Ashlee’s dad confirms the obvious
After more than a year of coy answers from Ashlee Simpson regarding her May 2006 nose job, her father Joe has finally confirmed that his daughter went under the knife. In an interview with Fox news, Joe says he had no control over Ashlee’s decision to undergo rhinoplasty. “Girls have their own ideas,” he shrugged. “Anyway, there was a real problem with her breathing and that was cured.” Simpson Sr., who serves as manager to both his daughters, credits good parenting as the reason his daughters haven’t gone the way of Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears. “We have a real family,” he said. “You can’t just put these kids out in the world and they’re on their own. I can remember a time when Jessica was singing at Madison Square Garden and her outfit ripped before she went on. We were there for her.” And then there was Ashlee’s SNL debacle: “She’s lost her voice, and Jordan Schur [then the head of her record label] insisted she lip-sync,” Joe said. “She’d never done it before. She didn’t want to do it. Anyway, she’ll never do it again. We just did a huge tour, and there was no lip-syncing.” The former Baptist minister also denies claims that he’s a controlling father. “I don’t tell my girls who to date or marry or what to do.” He also has no hard feelings against former son-in-law Nick Lachey. “I have nothing against Nick,” he said. “But they got married very young. I told Jessica, ‘You’re going to hit an age when it’s all going to be clear to you – life, that is – and you’ll know what you want to do.’ I do blame 50 percent of their breakup on the media.”
Ashlee wants you to know she loves herself
Ashlee Simpson really wants us all to believe she’s happy with the way she looks. On the heels of an interview in Harper’s Bazaar where she said she “loved how I looked” before her nose job last year, Simpson tells Cosmopolitan mag, “I feel very confident with the way I look. But I felt just as confident the way I looked before. I’ve always been confident with who I am.” And of her now-public relationship with Fall Out Boy singer Pete Wentz, Simpson says, “It’s really hard for me to like Hollywood-type guys. I like guys who are relaxed and chill and who think I’m sexy no matter what I do. And I like guys who are into surfing. They’re cute and seem more laid-back, and I’m a pretty laid-back person.”
Pete Wentz opens “loser” bar in NYC
Fall Out Boy singer Pete Wentz celebrated the opening of his NYC bar last night with girlfriend Ashlee Simpson. Wentz and a few friends decided to open Angels & Kings in the East Village so they will have a place where “all our loser friends can hang out.” Wentz says he is tired of the pretentious club scene and wanted to have somewhere more relaxed to go to. “It’s different when you want to bring your friends to a place…and maybe we’re just not cool enough to get in. We really just want someplace where we can hang out and be ourselves… I’m just gonna be local and drink umbrella drinks. It will be a bit of a dive, which we need,” Wentz told pagesix.com. One of his co-owners added, “[It's] a place that anyone can go and have sex in the bathroom and not get in trouble.”
