Jackass star files for divorce
Johnny Knoxville officially filed for divorce from his wife of 12 years today, nearly a year after announcing their split. The Jackass star, whose real name is Philip John Clapp, cited irreconcilable differences and is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the former couple’s 11-year-old daughter Madison. According to court papers, the pair were married in May 1995 and separated last July. Knoxville has offered to pay an unspecified amount of spousal support. After starring in the Dukes of Hazzard with Jessica Simpson, Knoxville was plagued with rumors that he’d had a fling with his co-star. “Usually you laugh and go on,” he told a reporter in August 2005. “[But] if it’s something like they’ve done to Jessica and I, it’s not as funny because I have a wife and kid. Luckily, my wife is understanding. It’s show business.”
