Oprah voted most powerful celebrity

Oprah Winfrey tops this year’s Forbes list of the world’s most powerful celebrities, knocking last year’s lead power player, Tom Cruise, out of first place. Winfrey’s $260 million media empire has landed her in the top ten for nine consecutive years, and this marks her second time at number one. Forbes mag uses earnings plus “popularity metrics” including internet presence, press clippings, magazine covers and TV and radio spots to tabulate the rankings. Cruise felt to eighth place, Brad PItt weighs in at number five, Johnny Depp at six and Tiger Woods came in second. Britney Spears, who topped the list in 2002, is nowhere to be found.
