Johnny to play poisoned spy
January 13, 2007 · Filed Under General

Johnny Depp will produce and possibly star in a film about poisoned Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko. Warner Bros. has reportedly bought the rights a New York Times journalist’s book about the story for the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s production company, Infinitum Nihil. However, Depp may have some competition, since director Michael Mann and Columbia pictures are negotiating a $1.5 million deal with Litvinenko’s widow and a friend, who are co-writing a second book about the former spy. Neither studio has released comment.
